Physique moves into synthetic flooring

Sports hall and gymnasium specialist Physique Sports has added a synthetic flooring arm to its range of products and services.

The Lancashire based company, part of the PTE plc group, is now working as the UK sales arm of H and A Sports, which supplies, installs and maintains specialist synthetic sports surfaces such as football, tennis, athletics running tracks, cricket, rugby and crazy golf.

The partnership will allow H and A Sports to reach a wider market, taking advantage of PTE's 25 years experience in the sports and leisure sector, working with local authority leisure centres, trusts and 4,000 schools and colleges across the country.

Physique Sports has recently completed its first project with H and A Sports for Community Leisure Services at Yarborough Leisure Centre in Lincoln. The pitch, which uses the latest patented fabric technology to allow the surface to play like a water based product, was laid by a team of five and took five weeks to complete. Removing the old surface, preparing the ground and laying the new 'carpet' required forklift trucks, sanding machines and tractors, as well as two articulated delivery lorries.

H and A Sports has specialised in synthetic sports surfaces for 30 years and in 2003 alone installed more than 50,000sq m of new ground surface, as well as rejuvenating 20 full size hockey pitches and 40 tennis courts.
